Whetstone Gulf State Park is located 6 miles south of Lowville just off Route 26. Whetstone’s winter recreation season is from mid-December to the first week in March. A heated recreation building with restrooms is open Tuesday through Sunday, closed Monday. There is no charge for cross-country skiing. Whetstone has approximately 5 miles of groomed cross-country ski trails that go through the picnic area, loop around the camping area and follow the exercise trail. The trails accommodate levels of skiers from novice to expert. All skiers should register at the recreation building. No person should start on the trails after 3 p.m. or be on the trails after dark.

Whetstone Gulf State Park also offers camping, picnicking, swimming, and hiking in season. For more information about the Park call (315) 376-6630. Snowshoe rentals available $5 per day. You can call ahead.
